Giulio Xavier Cetto is a bassist, composer, and vocalist based in San Francisco, California.

Raised in a musical family, Giulio has played music his entire life and is dedicated to the love of space sound. Between gigging, recording and teaching, Giulio composes original works of music and plans to release his first album as a leader, as well as a collaborative trio album with group East Middle West in 2022.

While composing, leading his own bands, and playing in multiple ensembles, Giulio also teaches master classes and private lessons. For the past five years he has been a faculty member at the Stanford Jazz Workshop teaching courses from Bass, to theory and musicianship. He has also taught master classes at the University of Northern Arizona, University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, and taught at the California Jazz Conservatory.

Known for exploring multiple genres and styles, Giulio’s study of music spans continents and generations. Giulio is influenced by his Venezuelan-Italian heritage, Bay Area rap music, and his jazz and classically-trained family. His well rounded experience, deep listening and openness allow him to adapt to any musical scenario. This has been the key to his success as a bassist.  

Giulio has performed with Grammy award winning artists such as Lawrence Hobgood, Johnathan Hoard, Fantastic Negrito and Thomas Pridgen. 

Giulio’s recordings include several albums with artists such as Aaron Janik, Javier Santiago, Justin Rock, Omree Gal-Oz, Arlyn Anderson, Spellling, and Kev Choice.

He has also shared the stage with notable musicians such as Dayna Stephens, Theo Croker, Eric Lewis, Johnny O’Neal, Kassa Overall, Yosvany Terry, Eric Harland Quartet ft. Ben Wendel & James Francies, Eric Reed, The Le Boeuf Brothers, De’Sean Jones, Steve Turre’s Eulipion All Stars ft. Carl Allen, Vincent Herring, James Carter, and Matt Clark, also Roy McCurdy, Matt Wilson, Joe Gilman, Stacy Dillard, Eric Wyatt, Akira Tana, Faye Carol, Ernie Watts, Sean Jones, Mike Aaberg, Warren Wolf, Joel Ross, Melanie Charles, Jacam Manricks, KNMDK, and more. 

He has played music abroad in Russia, Costa Rica, Malaysia, Singapore, Italy, Abu Dhabi, Ireland, Canada, US Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico as well as all across the continental United States.

Giulio is most known for his unique personality’s on both electric and acoustic bass and his magnetic energy and love while performing.
